Redesign or fix? Choosing for a Bangladesh business site

Not every slow or confusing site needs a full redesign.

Fix first when

Offers are clear, but speed, mobile layout or WhatsApp paths are broken.

Redesign when

The structure cannot explain what you sell — or competitors look more trustworthy.

Separate a usability repair from a redesign

Use the following worksheet to turn this article into an operating decision. It is a practical plan for a Bangladesh small business, not a claim about a particular client or an industry benchmark. Adapt it to your current workflow and constraints.

  1. List the failing customer tasks: unreadable text, broken form, unclear service or slow image loading. Match each to a concrete fix.

  2. Keep a working design if the problem is limited to content or one component. Redesign when the information structure repeatedly prevents the main task.

  3. Before launch, compare the old and new URLs, redirects, forms and analytics events. A new appearance is not a reason to discard useful pages.

Write this before requesting proposals

Describe the current process, the failing step, the intended users and what a correct outcome looks like. Prepare representative test data so suppliers can demonstrate the same task. Ask separately about recurring costs, third-party dependencies and work excluded from support.

When to change the plan

Resolve missing access, failed acceptance checks or unclear team ownership before paying for the next stage. Use evidence from a small pilot. If scope grows, agree revised time and costs rather than relying on unsupported guarantees.
